Other Crafts
I have tried my hand at other painting projects as well as painting terracotta pots, stones and making cards.
The largest item that I have painted to date, which I am very proud of, is a compost bin for my garden (which holds 220 litres). I wanted to disguise it so that it blended into the garden and didn’t look like a huge black thing just sitting there, so I decided to paint it (I am always up for a challenge!). This took quite a few days to complete as it was given a few base coats and was also varnished to help protect it from the elements (with the same products I use for the terracotta pots). This was obviously not something that I could bring indoors in the warmer months so I had to make sure that it could stand outside and be protected all year around. It is just over 2 years old now and looks as good today as when it was first painted. In the summer months it blends into the garden and in the winter months it becomes a feature in itself as most of the other plants have died off. See photo 1.
Another item I have painted is a large coal bucket. One of my Aunt’s and Uncle own a canal boat and they asked me to paint their new coal bucket in true canal boat style (Castle and Roses design). See photo 2.
Also I have had a go at painting a galvanised watering can. See photo 3.
